There was so much to choose from and work was taking up a lot of my time (I hate it when that happens), but I was fortunate to squeeze the annual Aspen Science Street Fair and the USA Pro Challenge into my busy schedule.
One of the lesser-known annual events in Aspen is the Science Street Fair, hosted by the AspenScienceCenter.
The Science Street Fair is “A free non-stop program of interactive science exhibits, experiments, games and shows designed to entertain and inspire, including on stage performances demonstrating scientific concepts plus many interactive exhibits around the park.”
Some of the booths and exhibits this year were:
- Archeological Center
- Troy Fantini Robotics
- CSU Bio Energy
- Clean Energy Collective
- Ball Aerospace Green Propellant Infusion Mission
- Rocky Mountain Bio Lab
- Solar in the Schools
- LIGO Interferometer
Here are a few photos from the event:

USA Pro Challenge from Aspen, Colorado
One of the most popular events in Aspen for many locals and visitors alike is the USA Pro Challenge bicycle race.
As usual, this now annual event drew in large numbers of spectators and support staff, and the town was maxed. Despite some travel-oriented “inconveniences”, the bike race was once again a big hit, and it should serve as a wonderful showcase for Aspen as well as the state of Colorado as a whole.
Not only is the race itself spectacular, but it has other activities that contribute to the overall festive atmosphere of the USA Pro Challenge event. This year it featured a concert by Taj Mahal who has become a favorite act for high-profile events in Aspen.

All of a sudden, September has snuck up on me and I can now look forward to some of the enjoyable annual fall events in Aspen: Ruggerfest, the changing of the fall colors, the Snowmass Balloon Festival, and well, more hiking and biking. Stay tuned for more photos.
